The Prayer Center of Orland Park

Indeed, each one of us will report to Allah (SW) at the Day of Judgment and will stand for account. Allah (SW) called the Day of Judgment the Day of Reckoning in 38:16 as all will be brought to the ultimate court of justice where no one will be wronged. In this court, there is a Judge, defendants, and witnesses.

The Judge is Allah (SW)

He is the overruling and the Sustainer of everything that exists. وَهُوَ الْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِهِ وَهُوَ الْحَكِيمُ الْخَبِيرُ {For He [alone] is all-dominating over [all] His servants. And He is the All-Wise the All-Aware.} 6:18. Everything is exposed to Him, nothing will be hidden from Him. (The Day they shall [all] come forward [for judgment before God], nothing of them hidden from God . Then shall it be asked to whom does all the dominion belong this Day? To God, the One, the All-Dominating.} 40:16.

The Judge is Just

It is our deeds that will be brought up, and Allah does not serve injustice to anyone. وَلَا يَظْلِمُ رَبُّكَ أَحَدًا {For they will find all that they have [ever] done [in their lives] present [before them]. Nor shall your Lord wrong anyone [in the least]} 18:49.

The scale is accurate

A scale or الميزان shall be set to weigh people’s deeds. This scale is very accurate and leaves nothing uncounted.  وَنَضَعُ المَوَازينَ القِسطَ لِيَومِ القِيَامةِ فَلَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيئَا وَإِنَ كَانَ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِنْ خَرْدَلٍ أَتَيْنَا بِهَا وَكَفَى بِنَا حَاسِبِين {Moreover, it is We [alone] who set up the just balances for the Day of Resurrection, so that no soul shall be wronged in anything. And even if one’s deed is the [mere] weight of a single mustard seed, We shall bring it forth. Thus, sufficient are We as [the very best of] reckoners.} 21:47.

The Power is only to God

At the Day of Judgment, no one will be of power but God and no one will have any influence except to whom Allah (SW) allows of intercession. Allah (SW) said: وَلَوْ يَرَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ إِذْ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ أَنَّ الْقُوَّةَ لِلّهِ جَمِيعاً وَأَنَّ اللّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعَذَابِ {If only those who do wrong could see [themselves] at the moment they shall behold the torment [of Hellfire, when they realize] that, indeed, all power belongs to God, entirely- and that, indeed, God is most severe in [administering] torment.} 2:165.

Who are the defendants?

They are me, you and everyone else, and at the Day of Judgment, we are at the state of being alone and as vulnerable slaves. Allah (SW) said: إِن كُلُّ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ إِلَّا آتِي الرَّحْمَٰنِ عَبْدًا لَّقَدْ أَحْصَاهُمْ وَعَدَّهُمْ عَدًّا وَكُلُّهُمْ آتِيهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَرْدًا {Indeed, every being in the heavens and the earth but comes to the All-Merciful as a servant. Very truly, He has enumerated [each of] them. And He has numbered [every one of] them with a precise number. Verily, He knows each one of them, and has counted them a full counting (And every one of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection (without any helper, or protector or defender). 19:93/95.

Who are the witnesses?

Allah is the best of witnesses for He (SW) is the Creator and the All-Knowing. Allah (SW) said:

قُلْ أَيُّ شَيْءٍ أَكْبَرُ شَهَادةً قُلِ اللّهِ شَهِيدٌ بِيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ {Say: which is the most great as a witness? Say: Allah [the greatest] is Witness between me and you.} 6:19.

All messengers will testify on their people at the Day of judgment, and indeed our prophet (SAAW) will be testifying on all.  Allah (SW) said: فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِن كُلِّ أمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلاء شَهِيدًا {How [will it be] then, when We bring from each nation a witness and We bring you (O Muhammad) as a witness against these people.} 4:41.

Angels also will be brought to testify as witnesses. Allah (SW) said: وَجَاءتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّعَهَا سَائِقٌ وَشَهِيدٌ {And every person will come forth along with an [angel] to drive [him] and an [angel] to bear witness.} 50:21.

Our own organs will be made to speak and testify at the Day of Judgment, Allah (SW) said:  حَتَّى إِذَا مَا جَاؤُوهَا شَهِدَ عَلَيْهِمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَأَبْصَارُهُمْ وَجُلُودُهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ  وَقَالُوا لِجُلُودِهِمْ لِمَ شَهِدتُّمْ عَلَيْنَا قَالُوا أَنطَقَنَا اللَّه الَّذِي أَنطَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ وَهُوَ خَلَقَكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ {[And see] till, when they reach it [Hell-fire] their hearing [ears] and their eyes, and their skins will testify against them as to what they used to do. And they will say to their skins: why do you testify against us? They will say: Allah has caused us to speak – He causes all things to speak and He created you the first time, and to Him you are made to return.” 41:20/21.

Even earth will be made to testify and witness. Allah said: إذا زلزلت الأرض زلزالها وأخرجت الأرض أثقالها وقال الإنسان ما لها يومئذ تحدث أخبارها بأن ربك أوحى لها {When the earth is shaken with its (final) earthquake, And when the earth throws out its burdens, And man will say: “What is the matter with it?”, That Day it will declare its information (about all what happened over it of good or evil), Because your Lord will inspire it.) 99:1/5.

We ask Allah (SW) to have mercy on us and to shower us with His blessings for none of our deeds shall be sufficient to praise Him. It is only by the sheer mercy of God that we can be granted Heaven.
