The Prayer Center of Orland Park

Fasting:

  1. Make the Du’a when you see the crescent.
O Allah let the crescent approach us with ease, faith, safety and Islam. O moon, my lord and your lord is Allah.
  2. Do not delay your Iftar. People are still doing fine as long as they expedite their Iftar and delay their Suhur.
  3. Make Du’a when you break your Iftar. For the one who fasts has an answer for his prayer that will never be rejected.
  4. Remember to say Bismillah and Al Hamdulillah before and after you eat. Allah will be pleased by his servant if he gives thanks after eating a meal or gives thanks after drinking a drink (water or such).
  5. Break your fast with dates. The prophet (PBUH) used to break his fast on ratibat (special raw dates). If there was none he would eat regular dates and if there was none he would sip water.
  6. Eat your Suhur. In Suhur there is a blessing.
  7. Pray in the Masjid. Whomever went to the Masjid or came back, Allah will prepare a place for him in Heaven every time he leaves or comes.
  8. Invite people to share Iftar with you. Whoever feeds a fasting person will enjoy the same rewards of fasting, without the fasting person losing any of his rewards.
  9. Read the Quran. Read the Quran for it will come as an intercessor for the person on the Day of Judgement.
  10. Try the Sunnah of I’tikaf. The prophet (PBUH) used to practice I’tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan.
  11. Get ready for the night of decree. The night of decree is better than a thousand months. The angel and the spirit descend therein by permission of their lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.

Salat:

  1. Maintain all your obligated Salat on time. Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specific times.
  2. Try to pray at the Masjid. The group prayer exceeds the individual prayer by 27 times.
  3. Repeat words after Azan and make your Du’a. If you hear the call for prayer repeat after each line. Supplication between Azan and Iqamah is never rejected.
  4. Make sure you pray in the first row. If people knew what is in the first row and found nothing but to draw on it, they would draw on it.
  5. Pray in (Khushuo’) focus and concentration. Certainly will the believers have succeeded who are humbly submissive during their prayer.
  6. Maintain all the Sunnah prayers. Any Muslim servant who prays to Allah 12 Rakaa’t voluntarily everyday other than the obligated, Allah will build for him a house in paradise.
  7. Make long Sujud with Du’a. The closest of what a servant would be to his lord is when he is in Sujud so increase your Du’a.
  8. Make Zikr after Salat.
  9. Pray Salat Al Duha. My companion advised me of three things I will not let go of until I die. Fasting three days of each month, praying Al Duha and praying Witr before I sleep.
  10. Read Surat Al Kahf on Friday. Whoever reads Surat Al Kahf on Friday, Allah will light the light for him between the two Fridays.
  11. Maintain Taraweeh prayers. The best prayer after the obligated is the night prayer.
  12. Make your (Qiyam) prayer at night full with faith and hope for rewards. Whomever prayed in faith and hope for rewards, all his prior sins will be forgiven.

Purification of the Soul:

  1. Repent and ask for Tawbah. Every son of Adam sins, and the best of them are those who repent.
  2. Ask forgiveness and practice Istighfar. Whoever kept on practicing Istighfar, Allah will make for him ease from every stress and from release every pressure, and Allah will bring to you bounties from where you do not expect.
  3. Remembrance of Allah, Zikr. Remember Me and I shall remember you.
  4. Donate as much as you can. Donation clears sins like water puts out fire.
  5. Make Salah on the prophet (PBUH). Whoever made Salah on the prophet, Allah will make Salah on him ten times.
  6. Attend lectures and learn. If Allah wishes something righteous to a servant He will give him the knowledge of deen.
  7. Perform Umrah if you can. Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to performing Hajj with the prophet (PBUH).

Relations with people:

  2. Visit sick people.

  4. Have a smiley face and always greet people and shake hands.
  5. Keep good relations with your neighbor.
