Marriage

“…And We created you in Pairs” (78:10).

Islamic marriage contracts are exclusively administered at the Prayer Center, and appointments are necessary for this purpose. To facilitate a successful arrangement, the following prerequisites must be met:

  1. Presentation of a valid marriage license issued by the Cook County court is obligatory. Residents residing outside of Cook County should inform us in advance.
  2. Both the prospective groom and bride are mandated to provide a recognized photo identification document, such as a passport, driver’s license, ID card, or equivalent.
  3. The presence of the bride’s father or a designated guardian is mandatory during the proceedings.
  4. Two adult Muslim male witnesses are essential to endorse and sign the marriage contract.
  5. The negotiation and agreement upon a dowry (Mahr) between the respective families are indispensable prior to the formalization of the marriage ceremony.
  6. It is important to note that the Islamic ceremony cannot be conducted on the same day as the acquisition of the marriage license from the court. Legal requirements stipulate a mandatory 24-hour waiting period before the marriage ceremony can be held.
  7. While no fee is charged for the Islamic marriage ceremony, we cordially welcome and appreciate any voluntary donations.

Your cooperation and adherence to these guidelines will ensure a seamless and compliant Islamic marriage contract process at our facility.
