Orland Park Prayer Center

The Prayer Center of Orland Park

After surviving the pandemic lockdown of 2020 when we were unable to gather together, we are counting down the days to our Annual Dinner on November 6, 2021, at the Tinley Park Convention Center. It has been a challenging year and a half for all of us with the COVID restrictions, missing many of the things we used to take for granted. But by the grace of Allah ﷻ we were still working behind the scenes during the lockdown to serve our beloved community even online to ensure they would never feel disconnected from their masjid during such difficult and sometimes lonely times.

When I ask our youth what was the miracle of the prophet ﷺ, they often answer the Holy Quran. I tell them, the Holy Quran is the sum of the miraculous Words of Allah ﷻ revealed to the prophet ﷺ, but the prophet’s miracle was the generation of the Sahabah that the prophet shaped and inspired to truly live by the Holy Quran and the example of the prophet ﷺ himself as a role model.

Our duty at the Prayer Center is to always provide our community with services and programs to continuously introduce the new generations to follow the footsteps of the Sahabah. Every year new generations of young Muslim kids join our programs, and it is our duty to make sure that we have every single service available to nourish them spiritually, educationally, socially and in their personal development skills.

We have a strong young vibrant team guided by experienced leadership to relate to new challenges, while at the same time securing the values and themes we believe in. Our weekly classes are back, youth programs are at full capacity, and new academic courses are ready to be launched. Preschool and weekend school are at full capacity with waiting lists of parents eager to get their kids in, and the after-school Quran program is full of students thirsty for Quran and Islamic studies learning.

Our newly purchased youth building is being assessed for renovation proposals so we can proceed with a full line of services to the growing youth numbers in our community. Our social service and outreach committees are working on a new line of programs to reconnect with our community and the public at large.

For all that and more, we are excited to see you again in our Annual Dinner. Our theme this year is Surviving, Reviving and Thriving. Surviving the pandemic and hardship; Reviving our routines, our faith, and our lives back to normal; and Thriving in higher levels of faith and new appreciation for the blessings we have.

We have invited CAIR National Director, Ustaz Nihad Awad, as our keynote speaker and world-renowned Qari Sh. Hasan Saleh to perform recitation and Tajweed of the Holy Quran. There will be a full program, including recognition of our Scholarship winners and recognition of two Insight Newsletter alumni for their outstanding achievements. Dinner will be catered by Albawadi Restaurant.

We are planning a spacious setup for seating with only 8 people per table and ample space between tables to make people more comfortable for social distancing, and so that families can sit together if they decide to reserve a table. There is also a full fun-filled children’s program and dinner so the whole family can attend. Please click the link provided to purchase your tickets online or you can purchase directly from the Prayer Center office. Don’t delay, tickets are selling fast! We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday November 6th at the Tinley Park Convention Center at 6 PM sharp.
